Our Social Skills Curriculum engages Preschoolers through play-based social interactions and preschool activities. Perfect for 3-5's who are attending or will attend a preschool, home tuition or ABA school. We create a pre-school atmosphere with specialist tuition from Group Leaders and experienced Support Staff. Great care is taken to include each child, encouraging them to learn in a safe, and comfortable environment. Children needing 1-1 can avail of our integration programme.

How do we teach these skills?

Children attending will all receive: 1-1 coaching, circle time, big and small group play experiences from the Preschoolers Curriculum as set out by Hometrain. Group Leaders create opportunities to encourage language, play and social skills throughout, using:

• Visual timetable, wall charts
• Age-appropriate, sensory and learning toys
• Specially designed activities
• Songs and games

How do we tell parents about their child's progress and goals?

Each six weeks, the Group Leader writes a progress report with recommendations for the following six-week term. Throughout the terms, Group Leaders are available to discuss goals and progress with parents. Each child's evidence folder is sent home at the end of every six week term.

Time: 2 hour sessions
Term length: 6 week blocks during term time

Our Social Skills Curriculum is designed to engage school age children through play-based social interactions, individual work and group games. It's perfect for children who are attending school, ASD class or ABA school. Creating a relaxed atmosphere at the start of the group - we find a welcoming environment is the best way to develop good relationship skills, and creates greater opportunities for effective teaching. The curriculum is taught by Group Leaders and experienced Support Staff. Great care is taken to include each child, encouraging them to learn in a safe, and comfortable environment. Children needing 1-1 can avail of our integration programme.

Skills the School Age Children Learn:

• About friends and relationships
• Communicating 1-1 and working together in a group
• Confidence building - talking in groups
• Greetings, casual and formal, and understanding what greetings are
• Sharing and coping both socially and emotionally i.e. things not going your way
• Managing and understanding emotions
• Play skills
• Language development

How do we teach these skills?

Children attending will all receive: 1-1 coaching, circle time, big and small group play experiences from the School Age Curriculum as set out by Hometrain. Group Leaders create opportunities to encourage language, play and social skills throughout, using:

• Visual timetable, wall charts
• Age-appropriate, sensory and learning toys
• Specially designed activities, colouring and worksheets
• Songs and games

Some children may need to use PECS, tokens and timers. These will be introduced as required.

'The Nest' is a drama group, based on a Curriculum that creatively engages the pre-teens attending.

Skills Pre-Teens Learn in The Nest:

• Speaking in Groups - confidence
• Developing storyboards, characters and dialogue
• Making friends, exploring and understanding relationships
• Creating puppets and props
• Communication skills through role play and developing characters
• Understanding emotions
• Social skills and creative, expressive language

How do we teach these skills?

Pre-Teens attending will all receive: 1-1 coaching, circle time, big and small group experiences from the Pre-Teens Curriculum for 'The Nest' as set out by Hometrain. Group Leaders develop a creative and positive environment for the group using:

• Child-led activities and projects
• The ideas and talents of the children attending, creating meaningful group work
• Games, role play, individual and group projects
• Drama, Art, Music, poems, songs as a way to explore social and emotional skills in a safe environment
• Arts and Crafts

How do we tell parents about their child's progress and goals?

Each six weeks, the Group Leader writes a progress report with recommendations for the following six-week term. Throughout the terms, Group Leaders are available to discuss goals and progress with parents. Terms will include a display of work, and/or a performance. Evidence folder is sent home at the end of every six week term.
